The above painting is the latest off the PatternArt Studio easel. This image presents itself on many walks through our temperate rainforest. I am always struck how the large diaphanous leaves are illuminated by the filtered sunlight. This flora is a bushwackers nightmare, their prickly stems are something you dont want to encounter on bare skin. I glazed many layers of Hansa Yellow to achieve these luminous leaves.
This painting and ten others now proudly hang in the Chuckanut Bay Gallery at 700 Chuckanut Drive. If you haven’t yet been, this delightful Gallery and Sculpture Garden is well worth the drive out beautiful Chuckanut Drive. The Gallery has the best of Northwest painting, photography, sculpture and much more.
The beauty of painting these stories in the temperate forest is the intense study of the particular moment in time; as the eagle is flying over the canyon, the moment the sun breaks through the canopy, two crows talking to each other. Take a walk in the woods and leave this chaotic world behind, its pure therapy.
