This Friday and Saturday a variety of Morgan Block artists will open their studios to the public. Come on out to Fairhaven and check out your creative community hard at work, studios will be open 10am to 4 pm. PatternART Studio & Gallery is on the third floor, Studio #14 at 1000 Harris Avenue, above Good Earth Pottery.

So I have been playing around with egg tempera again, as depicted here with the attached images. One foggy morning last week as I was lying in bed looking out the window at our hummingbird feeder, I knew what I would be painting that week. I’m enjoying these smaller, more personal paintings that are completed in a couple of studio sessions. I typically ride my bike or walk through Whatcom Falls park on my studio commute, then grab the WTA for a quick ride into Fairhaven.

My third floor studio has west and north facing windows. The north windows along Harris Avenue have beautiful maple trees and sometimes I have Corvid company while I paint. I wonder if this particular individual is critically evaluating my latest painting, I hope he/she appreciates my rendition. I’m thinking I might stay with these window studies for a while. We have a holly tree, full of berries outside our living room window that birds use as shelter over the winter, particularly a confused robin that keeps flying at his reflection in the glass. Hope to see you this weekend.
