Ground Cover, 30″ x 48″ Acrylic on Aluminum Panel

I love painting the bare bones of the forest, the solitude of winter trees. Andrew Wyeth painted the lonesome landscapes of winter, he said “I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape – the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it”. I call this painting “Ground Cover”, the fallen leaves covering the ground like a blanket as the forest slips into winter slumber.

This image is the latest off the easel from PatternArt studios. It is 30″ x 48″, Acrylic on Aluminum panel, I like painting these large pieces on Aluminum, it is lightweight, rigid and durable, I will finish the piece with a handcrafted oak frame.

I am working towards a show this Spring 2021 at Jansen Art Center in Lynden, covid permitting. The theme will be the many moods throughout the seasons of the fantastic temperate northwest forest.
