One of the most fun art events of the year in Bellingham is the annual Dakota Art 6×6 exhibition and sale which takes place this Friday, November 1. Artists are invited to pickup a free 6″ x 6″ canvas or panel at our local Dakota Art store, https://dakotaartstores.com/, then produce an art piece to donate to the upcoming show, and the response and sales are very generous: I think last year over 400 pieces were entered. The art is displayed on the Gallery walls next to the store where patrons can purchase and original piece of art for only $25. A generous portion of these sales is donated to the public schools to further encourage creative education. This event is looked forward to by the public with much excitement as people will line up on the sidewalk outside the gallery anticipating the 6:00 opening where they rush in to purchase their favourite aritist’s original work for only $25. This little painting is executed much looser than I usually paint which I really enjoyed for a change. The below images are previous years entries into this totally fun art event.
So this year I discovered I have a local following as I was awarded Bronze in the Bellingham Alive! magazine for best local artist. Ben Mann won silver and Jason LeClair won gold, I am honored to be included in this prestigious group. I will have three paintings in Matzke Gallery on Camano Island until mid November https://www.matzkefineart.com/ and just last monday I delivered a new painting “Methow Morning” to Chuckanut Bay Gallery. https://chuckanutbaygallery.com/
Get out the VOTE everybody, lets save this democracy and move forward to solve our many problems.
